Rafael Drinks, Pedro Thinks #04: MacSorleys, Jamaica Street

Glasgow, City of Music

This week, Student Tours Scotland brings back Rafael Drinks, Pedro Thinks - a regular blog featuring students from the Ciências sem Fronteiras - Science Without Borders UK Scholarship in Glasgow. In this edition we explore one of Glasgow's coolest bars for the music scene.

If you've ever been in a band in Glasgow then you've heard of MacSorleys. It's hidden away in Jamaica Street off the beaten track of the main Glasgow Shopping District. The inside is welcoming and has more than it's fair share of drinks. Since Glasgow became a UNESCO Heritage City of Music, I get students asking all the time about where to go to see good music in Glasgow. MacSorleys is frequently an answer I give.

I've even played in MacSorleys a few times myself over the years in the various bands I've tried to make a name for myself with. There really is nothing quite like the feel of standing on the stage with a captive audience.

So if you're looking for something to do, head down to MacSorleys on a night they've got a gig on. You won't regret it!
