Oban and Inveraray

Coach Trip: Oban and Argyll

Argyll is one of Scotlands largest and most ancient regions - and the most awesome for doing tours in Student Tour Scotland's opinion anyway. This coach trip will take you deep into the area to the former and modern capitals towns. You will hear the legends of Loch Awe and the monster that dwells within. You’ll get the chance to view the town of Oban from above and spend the afternoon in a castle. With some history, photo opportunities and plenty of free time this is a trip you will remember forever.

The Royal Burgh of Inveraray

The Royal Burgh of Inverary on the banks of both Loch Fyne and Loch Shira is a beautiful little town. With a stunning white town wall at the pier walk and a great stroll around the local monuments you will find a lot to keep you busy as you wake up from the drive from Glasgow. There is a lot of history here and you although it seems sleepy these days it was once a busy part of the country. We’ll spend some time discussing the legends, myths and stories of Inveraray before giving you time to explore and take in the sights. Student Tours Scotland always gets good feedback from students about this cool wee place.

Kilchurn Castle Viewpoint

Argyll is a wonderful region of Scotland. On this Student Tours Scotland trip we take you to a the viewpoint for Kilchurn Castle on the banks of Loch Awe. You can get lost in the wonder of the past as you stare across the water to the haunted ruin beyond.

St. Conan's Kirk (Loch Awe)

There is something quite amazing about staring out over Loch Awe from St. Conan's Kirk. Student Tours Scotland loves showing you little hidden gems and this is one of the best.

Oban

Oban is where we will spend most of the day. These days it’s the self-made capital of the Argyll region, despite Inveraray being the historical county town. Oban is a fantastic place - Student Tours Scotland will do it's best to make sure you realise that. You’ll get time to spend over lunch discovering the great range of seafood available as well as the usual cafes and bars. After a short walk to haunted ruins of Dunollie Castle you’ll get to hear the tales of giants and monsters that are attached to the region. Whether the stories are real or fake the walk to the top of MacCaigs Monument will show you the true beauty of Oban as you look out over the houses and shops below you and gaze across the sea. If you’re really lucky you’ll even get to see the ferry leaving for the islands.
